I haven’t done a proper blog post in a while but for this one, it’ll be more about what I’ve up to the past two months as well as stuff regarding the future.
In case you haven’t noticed already (unless you’ve been following my Twitter/Facebook page), this isn’t the usual Wordpress site you’re reading this post on. In fact, I’ve completely moved everything to a somewhat self-hosted solution using a combination of HTML, CSS, Liquid and Markdown which is all then generated with Jekyll. Pretty much everything has been redesigned from the ground up (You should also check out the new portfolio page) and whilst I no longer have certain features such as cross-posting to my various social media channels (i.e. I have to manually post the link myself), I do like the greater amount of control I have over the website itself (You can also assume that all future blog posts will be on here from now on).
The other elephant in the room that probably needs to be addressed is Balls. It’s strange that I’ve been working on this game for over a year now and although there hasn’t been much progress since the last dev log (as I pretty much spent the last two months working on this website as well as a press kit for the game), development is still very much ongoing and I plan on getting this finished in time for a soft launch next month. I should also mention that the closed Android beta is still taking place and signups are available by clicking here.
The last thing I would like to talk about is contract/remote work. As some of you may know, I’ve been unemployed for about a year and a half ever since the company I used to work at went under. In between working on my indie game, I’ve been sending out job applications left right and centre. Whilst I did manage to secure the odd job interview or two, I always seem to end up coming out short which to be honest makes me feel demotivated as I would like to get paid very much and I can’t keep developing games from just my savings alone. With that being said, I am very much available for part time freelance/contract programming work. I’m primarily looking for roles as a Unity developer (preferably based in London, UK because of my financial situation although working remotely is a strong possibility) so if you would like me to help develop your Unity based projects, feel free to contact me via the form I have on the site and we can discuss contract rates.
